Eph 4:3-4 - “There are several elements in that unity of the Spirit which is our common heritage. One of them is our hope. This is not just a cheerful optimism. It is the hope of our calling as Christians - to be with the Lord forever in glory.” *
If we don’t have that hope, then our hope is empty. We have not understood what is in our future. If you cannot be buoyed up by the future with Jesus, you are missing vital information. Plus, if you have that hope you can rejoice with other believers. This is almost like going to your college football game. You are there because you hope you can enjoy the win at the end. But that hope is a wish for a win; there is always a chance you won’t - but you can hope. There is a huge difference - our hope is based on Christ Jesus’ promise and resurrection. There is no chance that Jesus might lose!
He has already won. It, our hope, can be part of the celebration that Jesus has done it all. People have come the U.S. from all over the world to watch their team try to win the World Cup - but only one team goes home with the trophy.
Our hope is not a wish, but an assurance in Jesus. He is victorious, and shares that victory with us. Praise His Name!
